Changes in the board and supervisory board of Smart Commerce

Jena, 1st March, 2015:

Effective from 1 March 2015, the eCommerce service provider empiriecom officially started its business activities. Empiriecom manages about 40 online presences of different companies belonging to the Otto Group. They include, for example, the online shops of Baur, Ackermann, I’m Walking, Universal as well as Quelle in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The empiriecom “eCommerce platform services” comprise set-up, further development, operation and optimization of the online shop technology for online sellers. Following the management consulting services during the foundation and the set-up of a new eCommerce platform, Dr. Vogt, former Smart Commerce SE board member, has taken over the tasks as CTO of empiriecom KG as of 1 March 2015. 

Dr. Ludger Vogt is the founder of Smart Commerce SE. In his position as chairman, three positive business years were achieved. The results of the successful third year were reported in February (see PR Smart Commerce SE closes third financial year with positive results). The growth in revenue, profits and end results is in a three-digit number range in 2014. „I regret that Dr. Vogt is no longer part of the Smart Commerce board. I would like to thank him for his committed work as well as his contribution to the success of Smart Commerce and I wish him all the best for his new tasks as CTO of empiriecom“, said chairman of the supervisory board Friedhelm Bischofs. 

During the annual general meeting on 24 February 2015, Klaus Becker was elected to the supervisory board as the new employee representative and will succeed Horst Behrendt. Klaus Becker has been working in the IT sector for more than 25 years and has successfully supported many major customers during the implementation of their eCommerce goals. He started his career as software engineer at the nuclear research center in Karlsruhe. After various jobs in the industry, he worked as Technical Project Manager at Intershop and was part of the implementation team of eCommerce systems for well-known companies. Since October 2013, he has been working as Technical Director at Smart Commerce.
