After the online demand in the craftsman segment steadily grew, a joint project of leading brand manufacturers was planned and developed as of early 2012 in the form of a craftsman portal. The goal was to provide a platform for all craftsmen and ambitious DIY enthusiasts that combined the simplicity of online commerce with the service offerings of specialized retailers. Through a three-stage distribution channel MANUFACTURER – PLATFORM – SPECIALIZED RETAILER, customers had the option to have their ordered products delivered to the specialized retailer near them and, upon pickup, additionally benefit from the usual advisory services.
With the participation of over 20 renowned premium manufacturers such as Bosch, Fein, Festool, Fischer, Gedore, Kärcher, Wiha, and many others, the Procato platform offered a wide range of products and an extensive product depth due to the availability of the complete product range of premium brands.
The products were enriched with a variety of professional images and videos. Smart Commerce was commissioned by Procato to support the platform's go-live and accompany the launch through controlling and project audits.
The customer was able to leverage the long-standing eCommerce expertise of Smart Commerce for their project.
Through an initial comprehensive review and detailed examination of the requirements documents, the target-actual state was defined. Subsequently, project audits were conducted to perform risk analysis, continuous monitoring, and communication of the project status. The final step of the support work involved writing and conducting test cases.
Through these comprehensive analyses, extensive eCommerce know-how, targeted project controlling, and comprehensive consulting, the customer was provided with an overview and insight into the project status. At the same time, the necessary adjustments were identified to realize the platform's go-live, which took place in the third quarter of 2015. Following this project, Smart Commerce continued to accompany the further development of the Procato platform in the role of technical project management. (Note: The Procato platform no longer exists.)
