Digital transformation for a global construction industry

BOMAG was faced with the challenge of combining two separate systems for dealers and end customers. The goal was to create a scalable eCommerce platform that met both technical and user-centric requirements. This new platform should not only modernize the digital sales channel, but also enable a seamless and efficient user experience for retailers and end customers worldwide. 
Regional specifics were taken into account when introducing the platform in order to serve the needs of the markets in Europe, North America and China equally. The project aimed to ensure sales stability and at the same time exploit the potential for further growth. 

Mastering complexity: Tailor-made solutions for specific requirements

The development of the new eCommerce platform involved several technical and organizational challenges. One central aspect was the implementation of a closed store that only allows access via approval from the internal sales department. At the same time, a single sign-on system (SSO) was integrated, which automatically redirects users to the corresponding country store. 
One of the most demanding requirements was the in-depth integration of the store with BOMAG's ERP system. Functions such as the simulation of the shopping cart and the resolution of serial numbers required precise coordination in order to ensure maximum efficiency. In addition, global address validation with Informatica AddressDoctor ensured that the platform also functions smoothly internationally. 
Despite technical hurdles such as complex shopping cart calculations and slow data processes on Azure databases, valuable insights were gained and the platform was continuously improved. Through iterative adjustments and a focus on BOMAG-specific needs, the platform remains a future-proof solution for digital sales.
