Smart Commerce supports Calumet with Application Management in the Amazon Cloud

Also in the current business year 2016, Smart Commerce will support Calumet with the application management. Since the beginning of 2015, Smart Commerce has been responsible for the application management of the shop system in the cloud. The target of this task includes the maximization of the automation of the application management. Both during the automation and the monitoring, the latest technology is used to guarantee the highest possible transparency for the customer.

”Special emphasis should be placed on the flexibility and above all the reliability of Smart Commerce. We have a dedicated contact who knows our environment excellently and who can therefore support us quickly”, explained Gunnar Asmussen, Head of eCommerce at Calumet.

The online shop was realized on the basis of the Intershop Commerce Suite 7.2 and is operated in the Amazon Cloud (AWS). As part of the transfer of the IT responsibility to Germany, the decision for the quickly available Amazon Cloud was made, which has a highly flexible scaling as well as horizontal and vertical cloud infrastructure services.

During the go live of the Calumet sites, Intershop 7.2 was not optimized for the use in cloud environments. Several optimizations and tests needed to be conducted and experiences needed to be gained. Intershop made several improvements with the latest versions and now also includes “open stack”-based cloud management.”
